For Episode 8 of King of Tacos, we visited El Ranchito, located at 2800 SW Fairlawn Rd, Topeka, KS 66614. As we continue our search for the best taco in Topeka, we're finding that every stop has something different that makes it worth talking about.

At El Ranchito, the standout wasn't just one particular taco.

It was the adobo sauce.

The sauce brought a great flavor to the meal and paired well with all of the tacos we tried. Sometimes a sauce can completely change the experience of a taco, and El Ranchito's adobo gave us another reason to keep coming back for more.

With another Topeka taco stop added to the competition, El Ranchito is now officially part of our search for the King of Tacos.

EPISODE 8: WHY WE CHOSE EL RANCHITO

When you're searching for the best tacos in Topeka, you want to visit places that give you something worth remembering.

El Ranchito gave us that with its adobo sauce.

Located on SW Fairlawn Road, El Ranchito is one of the Mexican restaurants serving the southwest side of Topeka. The Fairlawn Road location is at 2800 SW Fairlawn Rd.

Our goal with every King of Tacos stop is to try the food and figure out what makes that particular location stand out.

At El Ranchito, the answer was pretty clear.

The adobo sauce worked with everything.

THE ADOBO SAUCE STOLE THE SHOW

Every King of Tacos episode has something that separates itself from the rest.

At El Ranchito, that was the adobo sauce.

The flavor paired well with all of the tacos we tried, making it an easy addition to the meal and something that we kept coming back to.

A good sauce can be more than just an extra topping. It can bring together the flavors of the meat, tortilla, and other ingredients and give the entire taco a different character.

That's what made the adobo sauce at El Ranchito stand out to us.

It wasn't just good on one taco.

It worked with all of them.

And when you're trying several different tacos in one visit, that's a pretty good sign.

EXPLORING TOPEKA'S MEXICAN FOOD SCENE

One of the best parts of the King of Tacos series has been seeing just how many options there are for Mexican food in Topeka.

Every stop gives us another opportunity to discover a local business and try something we may not have ordered otherwise.

El Ranchito was another example of that.

The Fairlawn Road location gave us another stop on the taco map and another flavor to add to our growing list of favorites.

You don't have to go far to find something new in Topeka.

Sometimes you just have to be willing to try something different.

TOPEKA'S TACO COMPETITION CONTINUES

Eight episodes into our search for the King of Tacos, the competition keeps getting more interesting.

Vuelve a la Vida impressed us with its steak taco. Rosi's Food brought us chopped carne asada and standout elote. Zoila's Cafe gave us a memorable pork taco and green sauce. Mexicali brought flavorful Birria tacos. El Centenario gave us excellent al pastor and a standout chorizo taco. El Zocalo surprised us with Birria tacos and a flavorful consommé. La Casita gave us a uniquely seasoned al pastor and our first chance to try lengua.

Now El Ranchito joins the competition with an adobo sauce that paired well with all of the tacos we tried.

And we're still not finished.
